In 2020, we delivered 47,911 pounds of food supporting over 200 people weekly in our community.
In 2021 we doubled our numbers! Emergency gift cards, food boxes, subsidized markets, and prepared meals were some of the ways we supported our community through the Omicron outbreak.

In 2022, after community consultations we pivoted our ways of offering food to the community launching our subsidized Fair Food Farmer’s Market, where community members will choose what food they would like to take home, and other Haligonians could come and get their groceries as well through our Hope Blooms crypto app.
With this system no one knows who is paying for their food and who is taking the subsidy. We found this the more dignifying way of offering food, it avoids food waste by offering families what they actually need and want, if gives them choice, and a sense of empowerment.
Many of the caregivers in the community started cooking together in our Global Kitchen for Social Change, we offer the ingredients and they pilot their own small businesses by selling their food in the Fair Food Farmers Market. Take-out meals, fresh produce, local vendors, and live music!
Every Thursday 4pm to 6:30pm from June until September 2023 you can find the Farmer’s Market at 2346 Brunswick Street.
